About Me
From an early age, I knew that a life shaped only by academics was not for me. Growing up in Beijing, with formative years spent in Brisbane and London, I was always drawn to real-world experiences and independent thinking. My parents, who moved to Beijing from other provinces to pursue their studies and careers, instilled in me a curiosity for different cultures and an appreciation for diverse perspectives. My international upbringing planted the seeds of my multicultural awareness and adaptability, qualities that have become integral to my identity as a multicultural communicator. These early experiences showed me the value of forging my own path, and from a young age, I was already making decisions that reflected my own ambitions and outlook on life.
My entrepreneurial journey began in high school when I launched my first business, a sneaker trading venture connecting the U.S. and China. While others focused only on schoolwork, I was learning the fundamentals of brand strategy, customer acquisition, and market demand. This hands-on experience laid the foundation for my work as a strategic marketer and brand launcher. It taught me that the best way to learn was through action—an approach that has since guided every stage of my career. By the time I entered college, I was certain that real-world application mattered far more to me than simply acquiring knowledge from textbooks.
At NYU Shanghai, I initially chose Business and Finance, driven by my strengths in math and a family background in the field. But as I progressed through my freshman year, it became clear that finance alone couldn’t satisfy my drive to create and connect with others. I switched to Marketing with a concentration in Management, a decision that allowed me to explore my strengths as a community builder and visionary entrepreneur. Through internships at Porsche, Gucci, and PwC, I refined my skills across data-driven marketing, brand strategy, and e-commerce, gaining exposure to diverse markets and industries. My work with PwC as NYU Shanghai’s first campus ambassador taught me how to build communities from scratch and establish partnerships, a skill I would later leverage in my entrepreneurial ventures.
The decision to focus fully on entrepreneurship was solidified after these experiences. While I appreciated what corporate roles had taught me, I wanted the freedom to innovate and take risks. During my time in New York at NYU Stern, I immersed myself in courses and workshops that refined my approach to business and branding. Observing gaps in men’s fashion availability and quality in the U.S. market, I launched my first international e-commerce venture, Martini Kills, which combines my love for visual design, strategic marketing, and brand building. From developing cross-border supply chains to connecting with customers through digital platforms, Martini Kills became a real-world classroom where I could apply everything I’d learned.
Now, in my final year, my focus is on creating lasting impact within my community and expanding my ventures. Projects like Sunrise Academy, Honeybear.ai, and Sempre have allowed me to channel my skills as a brand launcher, partnership connector, and visual designer while building communities and bridging cultures. Each project has added to my journey, teaching me how to adapt, communicate, and lead with vision. I’m passionate about shaping brands that not only resonate but also connect people in meaningful ways. My path may have been unconventional, but it has given me the experience, resilience, and versatility to build ventures that reflect who I am—a leader driven to create, connect, and innovate on a global scale.
